Hot gas defrost
All our products are equiped with a hot gas defrost system which allows to unfreeze quickly the absorption surface for the air’s heat. Contrary to simple pool heat pumps, that stop heating the water for a few hours during each cold night because they have frozen, our systems have an advanced controller that can detect frosting of the evaporator coil, and dries it completely within a few minutes to allow the unit to keep an optimal performance level.
Since the units take heat from the air to heat the water, it is possible to use them to cool and dehumidify buildings. This application is particularly important for mechanical rooms, where many large equipments work at the same time and tend to overheat the room. With an investment comparable to a conventional air conditioning unit, you can now recover this energy to heat a pool used by your customers.
Titanum fully immerged exchanger
Since the pool water contains many impurities and chemical components, it is essential to use an adapted heat exchanger. A plate exchanger risks to get progressively blocked even with an excellent filtering system. This kind of exchanger also cause important pumping losses in the water circuits, which raise the operating pressure and the pumping costs.
The innovative design of our exchangers allows an important flow at low operating pressures. We have a model which allows a flow of 60 m│/hour at a pressure of 20 kPa. The following picture shows a titanium coil around which the water flows without any risk of obstruction.
Let’s not forget the need to winterize the equipments. The pipes and exchangers must never contain water after the end of the season, to prevent damages due to freezing. The shape of the PVC casing insures that the water can drain by its own weight at the end of the season.
Our exchangers, exclusive to North-America are made with titanium tubing in a PVC casing. Both these materials resist corrosion and erosion. We are so confident of the long life expectancy of these exchangers that they have a 5 years warranty!
Communication between the user interface and the main controller of the unit is based on RS-485 communication. This protocol allows a length of wire of up to 4000 feet, which allows to install the user interface anywhere on the site, to suit custom needs. Since many equipements, even computers, can transmit through a RS-485 port, it is possible to integrate reversible systems into many existing systems and even to communicate with them by any TCP/IP network.
The units destined to commercial projects are made of many distinct refrigeration circuits. This allows starting them in sequence to prevent a large current spike at startup time. This conception also let the unit unload systems and work at reduced capacity if the heating load decreases.
Since the units are modular, it is not necessary to stop the whole system for maintenance operations. Only the unit on which work will be performed has to be turned off to insure the safety of workers. The ability to work at reduced capacity allows a longer time to repair the potential breakdowns since the other units continue to keep the water temperature.
Combining many units allows covering all the needs with a small number of products. Contrary to custom systems for which spare parts might be hard to find, our units are mass produced and interchangeable.
To fit the investment more easily into the budgets, it is also possible to begin by installing a reduced number of units at first, and to add capacity to the system progressively while paying the equipments with the savings from the energy bills.
